All about China and Japan

I am a Chinese National, who married a Japanese. We have a beautiful 1 year old, sweet, smart, and loving. I grow up in China, and spent 27 years there until I came to U.S., where later I met my wife..

It has been a great exitement to me that I got exposed to different cultures. I have since learned a lot about Japan and Japanese. Did a lot of thinking. It is not a secrete that there is grudge today in China that Chinese people commonly hold against Japanese. Add it is widely believed in China, somehow, that Japanese people look down on Chinese, and are mean to Chinese. It did not take me myself long to change this misconception, once I got to know a few Japanese people here in U.S. Nationalism, that is growing quickly among young Chinese people today, has a lot to do with this misconception. But more to it, I think, ignorance made all this possible. Majority of those who are against Japanese, know no Japanese themselves, personally, and know pretty much nothing about Japan and Japanese people today. It is blind hatred.

It is truly sad when I read about the college incidence in Xi'an, late 2004. Our people need to grow up, need to mature. It is embarrassing to learn that 10s of thousand people went on street to protest against some dumb show. Think from a different angle. What would happen if they were not Japanese students, but, say, Americans? I can't see the same thing happening. So just what was the problem?
